GARIA recently hosted an impactful two-day training session on Business Rescue, bringing together over 100 participants in person and 50+ online attendees. The event, themed “Navigating Successful Business Rescue,” aimed at equipping insolvency practitioners, business leaders, and regulators with practical skills and innovative strategies to help businesses navigate periods of temporary distress.
Supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), SECO, and the Office of the Registrar of Companies, the event saw distinguished figures like His Lordship Justice S.K. Date-Bah as Chairman of the Training Program, and Hon. Diana Asonaba Dapaah, Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, as Special Guest of Honor. Mrs. Jemima Oware, Registrar of Companies, reinforced the ORC’s commitment to supporting the business rescue regime.
Expert trainers from various fields led the sessions, including Halvarde Otoo (Consultant, PwC), Gideon Bosompim (Senior Manager, PwC), Robert Dzato (CEO, Chartered Institute of Bankers), Audrey Kotey (Partner, AudreyGrey), Will Paterson (Senior Financial Sector Specialist, World Bank), and Prosper Melomey (Partner, Bridgewater) on Day 1. Day 2 featured Will Paterson and Julius Ayivor (Associate Director, KPMG). Mr. Ubong Awah (Senior Credit Infrastructure Specialist, IFC) emphasized the importance of continuous training to equip practitioners in supporting distressed businesses.
